Razor Clamming Trip
Do you know what
clams are? They are shellfish that come in all shapes and sizes.
Razor clams or
Geoducks are clams that are big in size. The big ones are about 4-5 inches and
the baby ones are about 1-2 inches long. They are found in special beaches
only. It is special because there are no rocks at all.
On May 31st,
2014, my family went razor clamming by driving for 2 hours to Ocean City Beach.
When we arrived, we got on our boots and started to look for holes on the
surface of the sand. The holes are made by the clam’s muscle that squirts water
and breathes. The process of getting clams is simple. First, we searched for holes.
Then, we dug them out by using a clam gun, a tool with a long tube where the
gun is pushed into the sand and then put your finger on the little hole and
pull. Do this process a couple times (because the clams are really deep) and a
clam usually appears. We found out many people had already finished and lots of
them had been already dug up, we moved to different places. Once we were about
to go to another place, we found massive amounts of holes and started digging. After
about an hour, we reached our limit of how much we could keep.

海贝是什么吗？它们是各种大小的甲壳类的海洋动物。蛏子或者Geoducks是大的海贝。大的差不多有4-5英寸长和小的差不多1-2英寸长。它们只能在特殊的沙滩找到。那些沙滩很特别，因为一点石头也没有。
在2014年5月31日，我全家开车两个小时去Ocean City 海滩挖蛏子。到了的时候，我们穿上了鞋，然后开始在沙滩的表面上寻找洞。这些洞是由海贝喷水和呼吸的一个肌肉做成的。挖海贝的程序很简单。首先，我们寻找洞在哪儿。然后，我们拿海贝枪

插进沙子，把你的指头堵住一个小窟窿，接下来把这个工具拔出来。做这个过程一两次（因为海贝在沙子很深的地方）之后，一个海贝应该能出现。我们发现很多人已经挖完了，所以我们换了很多地方。我们要去另一个地方时，我们发现了很多洞，并且就开始挖了。差不多一个小时后，我们挖到了我们应该有的数量。
