小白兔和小灰兔

Dear Students,

Homework for this week:
1. Retell the story on Voicethread.
2. Do the workbook exercises Thursday - Friday.

Remember to use all the new words when you're retelling.  So even though you won't get a quiz next time, you still need to study these words in order to retell the story.

成语故事

Dear Students,

Homework this week:

1. 看亡羊补牢拔苗助长
这两个动画片
2. Study the new words we learned today at Quizlet.
3. Do the exercises in your workbook, Mon-Wed.

Even though we don't have Voicethread homework, those who forgot to do it last week should make it up this week. I have received voicethread from Isabella, Alan, Erik and Joy. Those whose names are not mentioned need to do it.

Happy studying,
Gao Laoshi

By the way, everyone did a great job in studying
the Chinese idioms with "horse"!

Dear Students,
Please do the following homework this week:
1. Study the new words on Quizlet. We'll have a quiz next time.
2. Make sentences of your own with the new words on the Voicethread
3. Study the horse chengyu. As most of you didn't do very well in today's test, we will have another one on those idioms next time.

Happy studying,
Gao Laoshi

Translation(FYI)
In the corner of the wall, Yellow Mouse, Black Mouse, Grey Mouse are having a meeting, discussing how to deal with DaHua Cat.
Yellow (loudly): it is really uncomfortable living here. I have no freedom at all. I had hardly gone out when DaHua Cat jumped out. I was so scared that I ran away in a hurry.
Black (looking at all): in that case, what should we do?
Grey (waving the fist): “let’s rush out together, and beat him heartily to drive him away. How is that?”
Black (shaking the head): No. We definitely can’t beat him. Nevertheless, I have an idea. See what you think? Let’s find a bell, and hang it on DaHua Cat’s neck. In this way, the bell will ring whenever he moves. Then we can escape.
Yellow,Grey (jumped up happily, said together): Good idea! Later when we go out, we don’t have to be afraid any more.
Yellow (scratching head): In that case, who among us will hang the bell on his neck? (the three mice looked at each other, and nobody says anything.)
Grey (Looking at the Black): How about you?
Black (waving hand repeatedly): No, no! My legs are not good. How about Brother Yellow?
Yellow (hurriedly clutching the chest): I was just scared to death yesterday by DaHua Cat. My heart is still beating wildly. Brother Grey, you go.
Grey (coughs dry): I’m getting old, and can’t run fast. I think it’s better you young people go.
(Three mice all declined the nominations. In the end, nobody dares to hang the bell on the cat’s neck, and have to go into the hole in the wall crestfallen.)

复习

Dear Students,
I'm glad that a lot of you spent some time in studying Chinese during the winter break. Especially Alan, Erik and Ashley spent more time than the others.
I hope everybody will finish the pictures you are assigned to and turn it in next time. Since we will have a quiz on the horse idioms next class, please review all the idioms on the Quizlet as this week's homework.
By the way, please let me know by email as soon as possible if you are planning to take part in the Chinese competitions which will be held in Seattle, in March. Thanks.
Happy studying,
Gao Laoshi
